Unless indicated as "In Library Use Only," these resources are available from any internet connection.  Most databases will require you to enter your Minuteman Library card number for access outside the library.

For a few databases, home access is available only to Wayland residents.

 

Academic OneFile 

Academic Onefile contains 8,000 academic journals, the majority in full-text, available in HTML and PDF formats. In addition it contains hundreds of podcasts and transcripts from NPR, CNN, and the CBC, as well as full-text New York Times content from 1985.

Agriculture Collection 

With broad coverage of agriculture and its related fields, this collection provides a comprehensive view of this growing body of knowledge. Comprised of nearly 200 titles, researchers will have access to current and authoritative content that spans the industry from practical aspects of farming to cutting edge scientific research in horticulture.

Scholastic BookFlix is a new interactive literacy resource that builds a love of reading and learning - online! Contemporary Literary Criticism - Select (CLC-Select) is an extensive collection of critical essays on contemporary authors.  Each CLC-Select entry contains a biographical/critical introduction, listing of principal works, and sources for further study.

Credo Reference Unlimited offers full-text access to nearly 500 highly regarded reference titles from over 70 publishers covering every major subject, including art, medicine, history, technology, literature and more. Consider it your own private online reference library. Criminal Justice Collection

Culinary Arts Collection

The Digital Media Catalog (OverDrive) provides popular audiobooks and eBooks for users to download.

Fine Arts and Music Collection 

With more than 100 full-text magazines and journals covered in databases such as the Wilson Art Index and RILM, this collection will provide your students with resources to support research in areas such as drama, music, art history, and filmmaking.

Freegal Music 

Freegal is a free and legal downloadable music service. It offers a variety of music, for recordings available from Sony Music Entertainment labels only, including Artista, Columbia, RCA and more. Wayland residents can download and keep up to 3 songs per week. The downloads are all in the MP3 format with no DRM. This service will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. It works on both PCs and Macs.

 

Gale Virtual Reference Library 

The Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. Sources may be searched individually or together.

Gardening, Landscape and Horticulture Collection 

A collection of more than 80 journals focused on key issues in gardening, landscaping, and other areas of horticulture, with the addition of over 20 subject specific reference sources from Delmar, this collection provides information for gardening enthusiasts and professionals alike.

Gender Studies Collection 

This collection of journals aims to provide balanced coverage of this significant aspect of our culture, covering such topics as gender studies, family and marital issues, health aspects, and many more.

General BusinessFile ASAP 

Use this database to research all business and management topics. Includes directory listings for over 150,000 companies as well as investment analysts' reports on major companies and industries. Choose "Advanced search" and then type a ticker symbol into the pop-up box to search Reuters Research on Demand, which contains investment reports produced by financial institutions and Wall Street and International brokerage firms.

General OneFile 

General OneFile is a one-stop source for news and periodical articles, including most of the content across all Thomson/Gale databases. OneFile contains over 5,000 full-text periodical titles, and more than 9,200 titles in all, on a wide range of topics.

General Reference Center Gold 

Use this general interest database to search magazines, reference books, and newspapers for information on current events, popular culture, the arts and sciences, sports, etc.

General Science Collection 

Although staying current on the latest scientific developments can be daunting, this collection aims to provide a researcher with the information to do just that. Composed of over 200 journals – from highly specialized academic journals to general science-focused magazine – the General Science Collection provides coverage of all scientific endeavor, including such topics as particle physics and quantum theory, advanced mathematics, biotechnology, and many more.

Global Issues in Context 

Global Issues in Context offers international viewpoints on a broad spectrum of global issues, topics, and current events. Provides instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials. HeritageQuest Online Index 

HeritageQuest Online is a digital resource that combines searchable images of U.S. federal genealogical census records with digitized books containing family and local histories from around the country. It includes 25,000 family and local history books, U.S. census records, and PERSI, an index of over 1.6 million genealogy and local history articles.

Marshall Cavendish Digital includes several Science Databases for children and students: Dinosaurs, Exploring Mammals, Habitats of the World, International Wildlife, Wildlife and Plants of the World. Marshall Cavendish Digital also provides access to a library of e-books.  Current titles are from their "Technology of the Ancients" Series.

Massachusetts History Online 

Use this collection for full-text articles from 50 magazines and local newspapers for coverage of Massachusetts people, places and historical events.

Military and Intelligence Database Collection 

The Military and Intelligence Database periodical list has been hand-selected by Gale editors to meet those content needs. Additionally, the product includes some basic reference materials that are updated annually: The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia and The World Almanac and Book of Facts. With more than 500 titles and more than 7 million articles (80% full-text), searchers are sure to find answers to their reference questions.

Morningstar Investment Research Center

The New York Times 

This database includes full-text of the New York Times from January 1, 1985 to the present.

Novelist K-8 Plus

Moreover, PowerSearch provides your patrons with access to all the Gale content in your library's collection through one, single search query.
