About the databases
Unless indicated as "On Campus Access Only" or "See a Librarian for Access" these resources are available from any internet connection. Most databases will require you to enter your Minuteman Library card number for access outside the library.
For a few databases, home access is available only to Mount Ida College affiliated users.

America: History and Life covers the history and culture of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. Contains concise abstracts of journal articles, citations of book/media reviews and dissertations, and coverage beyond history including culture, gender studies, psychology, literature, politics, and more.
Wilson Art Index provides comprehensive indexing of 377 international art publications, including English-language periodicals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins, as well as periodicals published in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Dutch, and Swedish.
Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals 
The Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals database offers a comprehensive listing of journal articles on architecture and design, including bibliographic descriptions on subjects such as the history and practice of architecture, landscape architecture, city planning, historic preservation, and interior design and decoration. It contains more than 440,000 thousand entries surveying over seven hundred American and international journals.
AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) 
The AVMA Web site contains a wealth of information on animal health issues and timely articles on animal-related public health concerns such as West Nile virus and avian influenza. Educators will find information and resources on the AVMA Web site to help encourage students to pursue careers as veterinarians and veterinary technicians. Founded in 1863, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is one of the largest and oldest not-for-profit associations for veterinarians in the world.
This database combines award-winning biographies from respected Gale Group sources. Biography Resource Center also includes full-text articles from hundreds of periodicals. Search for people based on one or more personal facts such as birth and death year, nationality, ethnicity, occupation or gender, or combine criteria to create a highly-targeted custom search. Also included in this resource is the the Complete Marquis Who's Who. This massive database contains more than 990,000 thumbnail biographies from 20 respected Marquis sources. Gale Virtual Reference Library 
The Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. Sources may be searched individually or together.
Use this database to research all business and management topics. Includes directory listings for over 150,000 companies as well as investment analysts' reports on major companies and industries. Choose "Advanced search" and then type a ticker symbol into the pop-up box to search Reuters Research on Demand, which contains investment reports produced by financial institutions and Wall Street and International brokerage firms.
General OneFile is a one-stop source for news and periodical articles, including most of the content across all Thomson/Gale databases. OneFile contains over 5,000 full-text periodical titles, and more than 9,200 titles in all, on a wide range of topics.

Hoover's Online contains a wide variety of business information about public, private and non-U.S. companies, including extensive company profiles, information about competitors, and names and biographies of key people. Also available is company and industry news, IPO information, research reports, and annual reports. Company searches can be targeted using 18 parameters, including industry, location, financial information, company size, and company type. Searches can also screen stocks by up to 20 different criteria.

PsycARTICLES is an online database containing more than 27,500 full-text articles from 49 peer reviewed journals published by APA and allied organizations from 1988 to the present, with earlier years in production. The database covers general psychology and specialized basic, applied, clinical, and theoretical research in psychology.

Moreover, PowerSearch provides your patrons with access to all the Gale content in your library's collection through one, single search query.
Gale PowerSearch helps users select the databases most appropriate to include in a cross-search by providing an alphabetical listing along with a description of each one. Users search with the method that's easiest for them - by entering keywords, using pre-defined subject terms or constructing complex search queries using Boolean logic.
